The midfielder is set to leave Real Madrid.
Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente is on his way out of the club after Atletico de Madrid decided to offer €40 million for his signing, according to a report from Cadena COPE. Llorente would sign a five-year deal with Atleti.
Apparently, both clubs have already reached an agreement and the transfer could be officially confirmed next week. Llorente has never been in Zinedine Zidane’s plans and the return of the French coach to the Spanish capital meant that he needed to find a new club.
Llorente played well for Madrid when he was given the chance this past season. Santiago Solari gave him relevant minutes when Casemiro was injured and he performed well enough to even compete for the starting spot when the Br azilian midfielder recovered from his injury.
€40 million is a good price for Real Madrid, who need to sell some players after spending close to €300 million on Hazard, Militao, Jovic and Mendy. Still, it’s somewhat disappointing to see Llorente leaving the club after his solid season and joining a rival like Atletico de Madrid.
