Reports out of Paris and Spain suggest that Kylian Mbappe is growing unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain and could be waiting to join Real Madrid when his current contract expires.
Operation Mbappe is a go for Los Blancos. President Florentino Perez and manager Zinedine Zidane have made it abundantly clear that Kylian Mbappe is a top target and should one day play in the Santiago Bernabéu.
Although Real Madrid attempted to sign the young phenom when he broke out at AS Monaco during the 2016/2017 campaign, the forward opted to stay in his home country of France and play with the Parisians.
Mbappe told the former vice president of Monaco, Vadim Vasilyev, when Real submitted the offer for him:
"‘Vadim, it’s too soon for me. I haven’t played more than a year in my own country. I’m from Paris and I don’t want to leave my country right now. I want to become a great player here. Real Madrid will wait for me.'"
According to Cadena SER, after a recent argument with boss Thomas Tuchel while leaving the pitch on Sunday night after a win against Montpelier, Mbappe is again spurning PSG’s desperate attempts at reaching a new contract length in order to wait until his current deal runs out in June 2021.
Since his magical performance in the Champions League where he scored 15 goals and guided a lackluster Monaco side to the semifinal, Perez and Zidane have been circling like vultures waiting for the right moment to make a serious offer. That time has finally come.
It will take an astronomical amount to pry the 20-year-old away from the ownership group in Paris, but Madrid could offer Kylian double his salary – €26 million – to make the deal go through.
Inevitable is the word that people continue to bring up when describing Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid. That word seems to be fading as more and more signs begin to point to the deal being done when the French international’s contract expires.
Mbappe is such a prolific player at such a young age the club doesn’t need to rush to hand over millions of euros for his signature. Instead, as has been referenced before, the waiting game will inevitably see Mbappe wear the Royal White shirt.
