Manchester City star seeks Real Madrid move after fallout with Pep Guardiola

Manchester City may lose out on one of their best players to Real Madrid following claims that he has fallen out with Pep Guardiola.

Following two years of unprecedented dominance of England, Manchester City have seemingly lost their flair this time out and find themselves 14 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League with more than 20 matches yet to be played. Even though they are in the Champions League, there is a sense of insecurity and one of their regulars is keen on a move to Real Madrid, it has been reported by Diario GOL.

Bernardo Silva is the player part of the rumour, amid claims that he does not have any more faith in Pep Guardiola. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager does count on Bernardo Silva as a starter, but given the Citizens’ recent results, the Portugal international is keen on a way out as he seeks a new challenge.

Real Madrid are thought to be looking for an attacking midfielder with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos nearing the end of their careers. Zinedine Zidane’s side has shortlisted Donny van de Beek and Fabian Ruiz as two attacking options of late and negotiations have apparently hit advanced stages, but it is no secret that Bernardo Silva is by far the better choice than the two players that are being supposedly talked to by Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane wants a player with attacking abilities, but also with a good defensive nature since the Frenchman’s principle gameplay has always been dependent on eleven players defending and eleven players attacking altogether. Bernardo Silva fits the bill and his statistics as well as candidacy for the Ballon d’Or are evidence of that.

Manchester City will certainly look to hold onto the former Monaco midfielder in case he wants to leave and even more so because Pep Guardiola himself isn’t certain about his future. Regardless, Real Madrid will have to offer at least 70 million euros for Bernardo Silva given his quality and status at the Etihad Stadium, but instead of spending huge money for players like Paul Pogba or Bruno Fernandes, they’d rather go for the Portuguese star.
