Manchester United star Paul Pogba was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer - and now the Spanish giants are set to reignite their interest in the midfielder.
Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Paul Pogba - identifying the Manchester United ace as a priority transfer target this summer.
Pogba looked almost certain to be on his way out of United before Project Restart got underway, with Madrid tipped as his potential next destination after failing to make a single appearance in 2020.
However, the Frenchman has transformed his fortunes at Old Trafford since English football got back underway last month.
He has been thriving in midfield alongside new recruit Bruno Fernandes, finally displaying the playmaking qualities which convinced United to re-sign him for £89million in 2016.
Yet according to the Get French Football News , Madrid are ready to launch a fresh bid for Pogba ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Los Blancos have long been linked with a move for the France World Cup winner, who sparked widespread speculation when he was spotted on a beach in Dubai with Zinedine Zidane back in October.
It is believed the Spanish giants failed with a player-plus-cash offer involving James Rodriguez last summer, with the £28million cash fee considered far too low by United.
Nevertheless, Real are set to test the Red Devils’ resolve once again this summer.
Zidane is said to have been left ‘greatly annoyed’ by their failed pursuit last year and remains desperate to bring his fellow Frenchman to the Bernabeu.
Pogba only has a year remaining on his current contract, although the option of a one-year extension is included in that deal.
United were reportedly open to selling the midfielder before English football was suspended in mid-March.
But after his significant impact since returning to the fold last month, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now understood to be hoping to keep him.
Pogba has racked up 148 appearances in his second spell at United, having made seven before departing for Juventus on a free transfer in 2012.
He has registered a total of 31 goals and 33 assists for the club, while getting his hands on the League Cup and the Europa League in 2017.
