Zinedine Zidane Hits Back At Jurgen Klopp Over Stadium Comments After Real Madrid Win

Zinedine Zidane has dismissed Jurgen Klopp's comments over the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium after Real Madrid's 3-1 victory against Liverpool on Tuesday.

Los Blancos have opted for the Di Stefano training complex to be their match-day venue ahead of the Santiago Bernabeu amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But Klopp wasn't thrilled at the idea of playing at the 6,000-seated stadium, saying that "Anfield is at least a proper stadium."

Speaking after the 3-1 defeat, the 53-year-old Liverpool boss said: "This here tonight was really strange because it was a difficult situation in the stadium, but Anfield is at least a proper stadium and that will be good for us."

Zidane refused to enter into a heated war of words with the former Borussia Dortmund head coach.

Instead, the legendary 48-year-old Frenchman insisted that Madrid are "proud to play in this stadium."

When asked about Klopp's remarks, 'Zizou' responded: "I don't have an opinion about what Jurgen says, we are proud to play in this stadium."

Zidane hailed the performance of Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos after he delivered a "wonderful pass" for his side's opener.

Kroos caught the Liverpool backline out as he fired in a spectacular pass from inside his own half to Vinicius, who expertly converted past Alisson in a one-on-one.

Liverpool will host Madrid at Anfield in the return leg on 14th April.

Zidane has claimed that Madrid must be switched on for the second-leg quarter-final clash, saying that Liverpool are "going to leave all they have on the pitch."

The Madrid boss explained: "Liverpool is the opponent and we know they are going to leave all they have on the pitch, I have no question about that."

"We just need to be ready and it is going to be a very good second-leg match. We will need to do the same thing in the second leg."

"We are happy with the result but we have won nothing. We are happy with the performance and what the players have done is huge after a lot of difficulties in our season."

"There is a long road ahead and we are alive. Today is the first leg, but we'll know we'll have a second leg and our idea is to think that we go into that and the result will be 0-0."

"For us, we are happy but we have another complicated game for the second leg."

"These two sides are quite offensive and we knew we could hurt them from that aspect, so we prepared properly."

"What we did quite well was defend properly with the three in the middle and we know if we defend properly we will get chances in the attack and that is what happened."

"The first goal was quite beautiful with a wonderful pass from Toni Kroos."
