Ruthless Real Madrid plot ambitious raid for the one man Chelsea can’t afford to lose

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez ‘won’t hesitate’ to axe Carlo Ancelotti this summer and a report has revealed why Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is ‘best positioned’ to take the reins.

Chelsea’s off-field turmoil has left them facing an uncertain future in several departments. At present, they are unable to sign or sell players in the transfer market. Furthermore, they are not allowed to negotiate new contracts with their current stars. Those restrictions will be lifted when the club’s takeover is completed, though that could take at least another month.

That poses a problem for the club’s defence in particular. Indeed, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen are all free agents at season’s end. The trio may have already agreed moves away by the time Chelsea can negotiate.

However, arguably the biggest loss would come in the form of Thomas Tuchel.

The German has been everything Chelsea fans could’ve hoped for and more since succeeding Frank Lampard in January, 2021.

Tuchel guided the Blues to their second Champions League title last May. What made that achievement all the more remarkable was the fact Tuchel joined the club mid-season.

But aside from thrusting Chelsea to the upper echelons of European football once more, the German has also received acclaim for the statesmanlike way in which he’s handled Chelsea’s current crisis.

Indeed, losing Tuchel would be a bitter pill to swallow, and per Spanish outlet Sport, that’s precisely what could happen.

They state Real Madrid could be on the hunt for a new manager this summer with Carlo Ancelotti under pressure.

The Italian oversaw a superb comeback in the Champions League Round of 16 against PSG. What’s more, he has Real nine points clear of Sevilla in LaLiga.

However, Real were humbled 4-0 by Barcelona in the latest El Clasico last weekend. That type of result is not quickly forgotten in Madrid and the article notes Ancelotti’s position is now ‘seriously weakened’.

Real face the daunting prospect of battling Chelsea in the quarter finals of the Champions League. An exit there could spell the end for Ancelotti – even if they secure a domestic title.

A raft of potential successors are named including Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp, Real Sociedad B team manager Xabi Alonso, and Real Madrid Castilla boss Raul Gonzalez.

However, it’s Chelsea’s Tuchel that is ‘best positioned’ with Real hoping to exploit the club’s off-field strife. Clearly, the report is of the opinion Chelsea’s turmoil makes Tuchel now gettable.

Tuchel has also drawn links with Manchester United, something that prompted a response in a recent press conference.

When questioned about joining Man Utd, Tuchel delivered a response Chelsea fans will love.

"Do you feel me less committed or involved with [Chelsea]? Absolutely not," said the German.

"I love to work for Chelsea and this club has everything it needs to make me happy."

If that sentiment is retained through the summer, Real Madrid will find prising Tuchel out of Stamford Bridge an uphill struggle.
