Departed Los Blancos to sign for Fiorentina.
Luka Jovic will depart Real Madrid to join Fiorentina. The Serbian striker will sign his new contract this Friday.
He is already in Florence, with the Serie A club informing fans about all his movements on their social networks in a clear sign of their enthusiasm for his signing.
Real Madrid have agreed to allow Jovic depart on a free transfer, but they have secured 50 percent of a future sale over the next two years. In exchange, Fiorentina will cover the salary of the player, whose contract with Real Madrid ran until 2025.
In a normal deal, Real Madrid would most likely have been forced to pay part of the player's high salary even if they were to receive a transfer fee, his current value being set at 16 million euros according to Transfermarkt.
For Los Blancos, Jovic's salary was taxed at 45.5 percent, but Fiorentina will have to pay just 24 percent in taxes due to the Italian regulations.
This means that on a hypothetical scenario that Jovic earns five million euros, the Italian club would pay 6.5 million euros, including taxes.
Jovic is undoubtedly one of the worst signings in Real Madrid's history in terms of cost and performance. The 63 million euros that Real Madrid paid Eintracht Frankfurt to sign him make Jovic the eighth most expensive signing in the club's history.
Real Madrid had never paid such an amount for a striker before, with the second most expensive signing being Ronaldo Nazario, who moved from Inter for 45m euros, and the third most expensive being Benzema, who joined from Lyon for 35m euros.
