As quoted by Fichajes, Fran Garcia has revealed that he dreams of returning to Real Madrid. But the Spanish left-back has added that he is focused on Rayo Vallecano and delighted to be with Los Franjirrojos despite harbouring his Real Madrid dream.
Fran Garcia started his youth career at Bolanos before joining Real Madrid. The 23-year-old spent five years at La Fabrica before turning professional four years ago. But he only managed a solitary appearance for Real Madrid’s first team, which came in the Copa del Rey in December 2018.
The Spanish left-back has found a stable footing since joining Rayo Vallecano a couple of years ago. Los Franjirrojos initially signed Garcia on loan for the 2020/21 season before completing a permanent move in July 2021. And he has gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years.
Garcia is now one of the best full-backs in La Liga, becoming a pivotal figure for Rayo Vallecano. But the player’s performances have captured the attention of several high-profile Spanish clubs, including Real Madrid, who showed interest in him in the summer. Garcia has now revealed that he harbours the dream of returning to Real Madrid.
"Yes, I have always said it and I have never hidden it: one of my dreams is to return to Madrid. But I’m also clear about the things I want right now and what I have to do. Rayo has bet on me and I am delighted to be here."
Real Madrid decided against pursuing a left-back in the summer transfer window after signing Antonio Rudiger. So Ferland Mendy remains the first-choice left-back for Real Madrid. And Carlo Ancelotti tends to use David Alaba, Nacho and even Rudiger has alternatives to the Frenchman.
It will be interesting to see if the 23-year-old Spanish left-back emerges on Real Madrid’s radar anytime soon. For now, Garcia remains keen on returning to the Santiago Bernabeu, perhaps because he has unfinished business with the reigning La Liga champions.
