Barcelona, Real Madrid keeping tabs on Bernardo Silva

Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly tracking the situation of Portuguese international Bernardo Silva at Manchester City.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in Bernardo Silva. And a move in the summer transfer window might be on the cards, with his future at Manchester City not set in stone. The Portuguese international has a market value of €80 million.

Bernardo Silva has been a dependable performer for Manchester City since arriving from AS Monaco in July 2017. Over the last half a decade, the 28-year-old has seen his market value rise considerably. And he currently has a valuation of €80 million.

Meanwhile, Silva has also been a pivotal figure for the Portuguese national side for several years. As for the player’s stint with Manchester City, he has turned out 281 times, chipping in with 50 goals and 56 assists. But Silva is keen on embarking on a new adventure, with his situation alerting Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Portuguese international has been on Barcelona’s radar for a long time. And widespread reports have suggested that he is keen on joining the Blaugrana when he leaves Manchester City. The former AS Monaco playmaker is a viable target for Barcelona, considering he can reprise various roles in midfield and attack.

But Silva’s high valuation poses a problem for Barcelona, and they will not shell out €80 million to sign him. The report also claims that Financial Fair Play issues have forced Barcelona to consider Silva as an impossible target. As for Real Madrid, the Merengues are better placed to pay €80 million for the Manchester City playmaker.

But while Silva is a target for Real Madrid, Florentino Perez is keeping him as a backup candidate. However, amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard, the 28-year-old is an option worth considering. Meanwhile, Barcelona and Real Madrid face stiff competition from PSG for the player.

But the Portuguese international wants to move to Spain if and when he leaves Manchester City. However, with Barcelona unable to afford him and Real Madrid not prioritising signing him, a summer move to a club in La Liga seems unlikely.
