The rise of Eduardo Camavinga at Real Madrid has been meteoric this season. From a state of relative oblivion, the youngster has become one of Ancelotti’s most improved players.
According to reports from AS, Camavinga has become indispensable to Carlo Ancelotti and is an untouchable member in the squad. His exclusion against Atletico Madrid was purely because he is a regular starter and required rest.
The Frenchman’s rise this season began when Aurelien Tchouameni was ruled out through injury, forcing the manager to look for alternate options in midfield. Camavinga popped into the equation and changed the perception fans and the management had of him.
Over the next few weeks, the youngster delivered flawless performances as the defensive midfielder in Ancelotti’s setup. From that point till now, he continues to be one of the manager’s more used options in the position.
In recent weeks after Ferland Mendy’s injury, the youngster has come to use as an able left-back. Needless to say, it is his versatility that makes him such a valuable option for the Italian tactician.
The 20-year-old has started 23 league games for Real Madrid this season and has provided one assist in the process. In addition to around one key pass, he averages close to eight defensive actions per game.
With Aurelien Tchouameni back fit and raring, it remains to be seen as to how Ancelotti manages Camavinga’s game time now. There are reports that the manager hopes to attempt playing both French proteges together in midfield.
Camavinga is expected to start when Real Madrid take on Barcelona in the semifinal of the Copa del Rey on Thursday night, although the question remains as to where he will play.
