This past week, reports emerged claiming that Real Madrid keeping tabs on the situation of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold heading into the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old England star’s contract with the Reds expires in 2025 and there have been no negotiations thus far over an extension, alerting Los Blancos, along with several other top clubs.
While a move for 2025, when he would become a free agent, is said to be eyed, it has since been claimed that Real Madrid would be open to signing him this summer itself if he becomes available for a good Price.
Now, building on those claims, Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid’s interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold is very much concrete.
The Italian transfer expert does add that there have been no formal contacts made by the Merengues either with Liverpool or with the player’s entourage at this point.
But the Spanish capital club are watching his situation with a keen eye as they prepare to swoop in if his contract situation does not change.
As for that, Romano adds that Liverpool are yet to make a concrete move to renew Alexander-Arnold’s contract, with no negotiations having taken place even though he has only a year left on his deal.
The delay could be a result of the organisational changes taking place at Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp set to leave and Michael Edwards returning as the club’s chief of football operations.
So, the Premier League giants could still open talks to renew Alexander-Arnold in the coming months. But for now, no movement has been made and Real Madrid are watching closely.
