Karim Benzema said the quiet part out loud about Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid

Given the tough situation going on at Real Madrid at the moment, it's not surprising we're seeing former Real Madrid players speaking on the topic and their views on the situation.

Players like Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos, and Iker Casillas, among others, have all been talking about Los Blancos in recent weeks and where they think the issues lie and how they would turn the ship around.

Another former Real Madrid player who has spoken out recently is Karim Benzema. The Frenchman has never hidden his love for the club, and seeing them struggle is hard to watch for the legend and in a recent interview, he stated his thoughts on the current situation, and they echo what fans have been saying for quite some time.

While speaking with L'equipe, Karim Benzema opened up on what he thinks are the biggest issues with Real Madrid at the moment and it sounds a lot like what many fans have been saying for quite some time. He went on to say.

"Xabi Alonso can't really do anything, he has incredible names, so he must put those names on the pitch."

"It's difficult. Each guy has his ego. Those stars need to tell themselves that each of them has things they can bring to the TEAM, and more than anything, they need to COMMUNICATE."

"The problem is when you don't accept that there's a guy in front of you who scores more goals than you. Those problems happen when you have a lot of stars together."

"If your teammate is better than you, you have to accept it. Because that teammate still needs the others, he can't do it all himself."

Whether fans want to hear it or not, Benzema is spot on with every word he said. While yes, Real Madrid is a team filled with stars, the most important part about being a team is actually playing like a team, communicating with each other and accepting your role for the betterment of the team as a whole.

During the previous era of Real Madrid with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, and Luka Modric, among others, they were able to put those egos aside and accept their role in the team, and that seems to be a big issue plaguing some of this newer generation squad.

We'll use the big three attackers, for example, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Jude Bellingham. Everyone wants to be the main man, but it is clear that Mbappe is Xabi Alonso's guy, and the other two have to accept that and play their role as a supporting piece for Mbappe, but they've had a hard time in their new roles.

Benzema was able to accept being second in line behind Cristiano Ronaldo, and now we need others to accept their new roles in the team to help the team as a whole going forward.
