With Karim Benzema out injured, Gonzalo Higuain will be Real Madrid's sole reference in attack ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka in tomorrow's match against Lyon in the Champions League. Beginning his fourth year with the club, Higuain expressed his desire for Champions League glory today in a pre-match press conference.
In comments reported by Marca, Higuain mentioned how he had had great moments with los Blancos in La Liga, but never in the Champions League.
"It is a vital match for us and I hope we can have a similar night to the match against Sevilla. We are going to need our public. It is vital that they support us and push us. We need to do everything in our power to nullify the first leg result. In our stadium, we can't let them relax for a moment."
Higuain believes that the Lyon match comes at a good time for los Blancos in light of an epic comeback at the weekend. "We have a had a morale boost, but we know we have to play a nearly perfect match to progress to the quarter-finals," said the Argentine.
