Real Madrid have been hit hard by injuries this season, with the recently concluded international break making matters much worse for the Merengues.
Indeed, Los Blancos have lost both Vinicius Jr. and Eduardo Camavinga to injuries until 2024. On top of that, reports earlier today revealed that Rodrygo Goes is also struggling with a knee issue and might not feature against Cadiz on Sunday.
The situation is far from ideal for Real Madrid, who will have Joselu as the only senior forward against Cadiz if Rodrygo is ruled out.
Given the number of injuries, Real Madrid are set to dip into their academy reserves to make up for the absences.
And, one player who is set to benefit from the situation, according to AS, is 19-year-old striker Gonzalo Garcia.
The teenage forward is seen very much as a new signing within the club for he is now set to move to the first-team setup from Castilla in light of the injuries that have rocked Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
The teenager has a great instinct in front of goal, has the skill and quality to drop to either flank, and can finish with both feet, while also possessing the ambition and drive to succeed at a club like Real Madrid.
Last season, Gonzalo was the top scorer at Valdebebas with 35 goals in all competitions and has already been on the bench with the first team on three occasions this season.
The 19-year-old has netted four times for Castilla this term and scored twice for the Juvenil A side in the UEFA Youth League as well.
All signs point towards him making his first-team breakthrough imminently in light of the injuries to Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo.
