The Argentinian gem talked to DAZN and revealed the reasons behind his move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid’s wonder kid Franco Mastantuono talked to DAZN and revealed the reasons behind his move to become a madridista, confirming that he talked with coach Xabi Alonso before the deal was official.
“The way he spoke to me was incredible and I’m really grateful for it. The conversation had a big influence because having the coach want you is an important vote of confidence for a player. Leaving a club like River isn’t easy and his words really motivated me to take that leap,” said Mastantuono.
Mastantuono was then asked about his favorite position on the field, and he actually delivered a clear answer.
"I feel more like a forward. As a kid, I always played as a number 10 behind the striker, but now I have a more offensive role, attacking from the right. I always liked finishing more than giving passes. If you ask me, I prefer scoring goals, although assisting is nice too. In my position, I need both to be a more complete player," he said.
Then, he explained how he’s feeling after the deal became official.
"Playing for Real Madrid is a dream, for me, it is the biggest club in the world, it is the team that wins the most in Europe, every player wants to play there. All players want to be there. I will have to change my life to go play there, I don’t need to say it with words, everyone knows what it is," he added.
Mastantuono will join Real Madrid on August 14th, the day he turns 18 years old. It will be interesting to see if Xabi Alonso trusts him with a starting role on the right wing next season, but the Argentinian player looks ready to take the next step in his career.
