Things keep getting worse for Rodrygo. His form is poor, he is probably not at his best physically, he cannot get his preferred position at Real Madrid, and all of this continues to diminish his chances of having a future with the Whites.
At a moment like this, the wisest decision for any player would be to stay patient and work hard on the pitch and in training, earning the manager's trust and making a case to regain his place.
Rodrygo, however, has been doing the opposite, making things worse for himself.
Earlier, it was reported that he wanted a wage increase from Real Madrid. At a time when his performances are deteriorating and hard to justify, demanding higher pay does not sit well with any club.
Then, he reiterated his desire to play on the left, despite knowing full well that the position is not available. Vinicius Jr is irreplaceable, and if he needs rest, Kylian Mbappe is clearly the next-best option for the flank.
But it did not stop there. Rodrygo’s entourage has now taken an even more questionable step, one that might completely seal his fate at Real Madrid.
According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, during these months of increasing speculation and concern over Rodrygo’s future, his father, Eric Goes, stepped in and complained to the club about his son's situation.
This act, according to the report, has not gone down well at multiple levels within Real Madrid, and understandably so.
It is an incredibly poor decision to have external parties intervene in an issue that can only be resolved with effort and output on the field. Real Madrid is a club where your value must be proven every week, with your feet, not with your father's voice.
If anything had not already sealed Rodrygo’s fate at Real Madrid, this may just have been the final straw.
