Real Madrid are looking to sign a new centre-back next summer, one that can serve as a long-term mainstay to serve alongside Dean Huijsen and compete with Eder Militao.
Several players have made themselves available to the club hearing of the vacancy with Liverpool Ibrahima Konate and Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano being the best-placed targets while Arsenal’s William Saliba continues to be an option.
Now, as relayed by SPORT in a recent update, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi has also entered the scene as a possibility and has made himself available to the club.
As forwarded by the outlet, Guehi finishes his contract in England next summer and will be a free agent in June – much like Upamecano and Konate.
Given Real Madrid’s history of targeting free-agents, he knows he has a good chance of entering the Merengues and has asked his agent to negotiate a transfer with Real Madrid.
Manchester United, Barcelona and other top European clubs have been interested in the Crystal Palace star in recent years, but he wishes to don the white jersey of Real Madrid and define an era for the club.
Los Blancos do not rule out his signing either and consider him to be an interesting market opportunity.
Given the sheer number of options Perez and Co. have on their table, there will be massive negotiations next summer to identify which players forms the best economic and sporting fit into Xabi Alonso’s dynamics.
Last season, Guehi made 34 starts in La Liga for Crystal Palace scoring three goals and providing two assists in the process. He also oversaw eleven clean sheets, averaged over ten defensive actions per game and completed 84% of his passes.
