Trent Alexander-Arnold has had a nightmare start to his career at Real Madrid, but the Spanish team has no plans to sell the former Liverpool defender in the January transfer window.
Despite a challenging start to his career in Spain, Trent Alexander-Arnold is not on the brink of being offloaded by Real Madrid.
The former Liverpool right-back caused a stir among fans during the summer when he announced his decision to let his contract run out and join Los Blancos on a free transfer. This move was seen by many supporters as a betrayal of his childhood club, Liverpool, especially as it meant moving to a Champions League competitor.
However, the 26-year-old didn't leave entirely without cost. Due to Madrid's involvement in this summer's Club World Cup, a decision was made to pay Liverpool around $11 million to release him from his contract early so he could participate in the tournament in America.
Alexander-Arnold went on to make five appearances in the competition.
But it was at the start of the regular season that problems began to emerge.
Alexander-Arnold only started two of Madrid's first four La Liga games before sustaining a hamstring injury just five minutes into the Champions League game against Marseille.
Now, it's a race against time to see if Alexander-Arnold will be fit to face Liverpool at Anfield in November.
He also needs to get fit sooner rather than later if he's to make England's World Cup squad.
Next summer's tournament will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Before suffering his current injury, Alexander-Arnold was left out of Thomas Tuchel's squad for the September internationals.
The player's rocky start in Spain has led some to speculate whether Los Blancos might consider selling their full-back sooner rather than later.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, dismissed this speculation.
Romano assured that he could "guarantee" Madrid was extremely pleased with its summer signing of Alexander-Arnold and had no intention of letting him go.
Alexander-Arnold made more than 350 appearances for Liverpool and won countless honors, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
