Alberola Rojas will be in charge.
The Spanish Football Federation have appointed Javier Alberola Rojas as the man in charge of Saturday’s Madrid Derby between Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid which will be played at the Estadio Metropolitano. This will be the third Derby for Alberola Rojas.
Real Madrid have a 11-2-3 record with Alberola Rojas in charge, while Atlético’s record is a 10-4-4 one. With him as the referee, each team has a win and one loss in the Derbies.
It’s safe to say that every single decision he makes will be under the microscope considering the treatment Real Madrid have received from Spanish referees so far this season. Furthermore, Atlético de Madrid are always a very intense and physical team when they play Derbies at the Metropolitano, so Real Madrid will need to be ready to fight and match that kind of physicality if they want to come away with the three points in this Madrid Derby.
