No panic at Real Madrid as Xabi Alonso keeps full backing despite Super Cup loss

Despite Real Madrid’s defeat to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, Xabi Alonso’s position as head coach remains secure.

According to a report from AS, there is no sense of panic at the club, nor has there been any ultimatum issued to the manager.

The outlet mentions that instead, the current mood is one of reflection, analysis and problem-solving, rather than blame.

Despite previous reports, the Super Cup result has not placed Alonso under immediate pressure.

This is because much depends on the overall feeling surrounding the team’s performances, and in this case, that feeling has not turned negative.

The club assesses that the final, despite ending in disappointment, offered signs that can be built upon rather than reasons to question the man on the bench.

The belief is that the performance in the first final of the season opened the door to improvement, rather than exposing a lack of direction.

Against Barcelona, Alonso adjusted his approach compared to previous matches, and those tactical tweaks brought visible improvements during key phases of the game.

The players once again showed commitment to the project, making it clear they were not prepared to let their coach Down.

Given the physical limitations of the squad, the effort level was notable. The players pushed themselves to their limits, despite ongoing fitness concerns and a demanding schedule.

At Real Madrid, expectations are always high. However, the perception surrounding him has shifted in recent weeks.

Before the Super Cup final, the team had won five consecutive matches, restoring confidence after a difficult spell.

The defeat in the final was painful, but it has not undone the progress seen during that run.

Now, the focus turns to what comes next and the club sees this as a moment to review what went wrong and what can be improved.

The most urgent issue is physical condition, as injuries have become a constant problem, with hardly a match passing without a setback.

Stopping this cycle of injuries and improving overall fitness is now the top priority.

Until that is addressed, consistency will remain difficult, but Alonso will have Real Madrid’s backing.
