France coach Didier Deschamps has appeared to let the cat out of the bag by revealing Lyon defender, Ferland Mendy's impending transfer to Real Madrid this summer.
Reports emerged last week that Mendy, 24, had agreed to sign for the Spanish giants and had already undergone a medical although his current club Lyon released a statement to deny such speculation.
Mendy is currently away on international duty with France but, ahead of Les Bleus' Euro 2020 qualifier against Andorra on Tuesday night, Deschamps claimed the left-back is set to move to the Santiago Bernabeu despite Lyon's claims to the contrary.
"Two years ago, he was in the second division and now he will play at Real Madrid," Deschamps said of Mendy, who joined Lyon from Le Havre in 2017.
"He can play on either side and his development is stunning."
Real Madrid are currently in the process of strengthening their squad after finishing third in La Liga last term - 19 points behind winners and arch-rivals Barcelona.
The Spanish side have already recruited Eden Hazard from Chelsea and Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt and will welcome centre-back Eder Militao from Porto and forward Rodrygo Goes from Santos this summer.
